Thank You, North Idaho, for a Great Season

What a season it's been. From the first spring start-ups to the last fall blowouts, thank you to everyone across Kootenai County who trusted a local, veteran-owned crew with their yard this year. We don't take that lightly.

This year we turned on systems in the spring, fixed broken heads and leaky valves all summer, put in new zones and new systems, and finished up with a busy fall blowout season. Every one of those jobs was for a neighbor in Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Rathdrum, or somewhere close by, and we appreciate every one of you.

Before the snow really settles in, here are a few quick things to check around the yard:

- Disconnect your garden hoses. A hose left on the spigot can trap water and crack the pipe inside the wall when it freezes.

- Cover outdoor spigots. A simple foam cover from the hardware store goes a long way on cold nights.

- Wrap exposed pipes and backflow parts. Any above-ground pipe near your sprinkler hookup should be insulated or covered for winter.

- Turn your controller to off or rain mode. That keeps it from trying to run zones all winter after your system's been blown out.

- Mark your heads near the driveway. A few stakes help you, or your plow driver, avoid clipping sprinkler heads under the snow.If your system hasn't been blown out yet, it's not too late, but don't wait much longer. Fall blowouts are $120, and once the ground freezes hard, trapped water can crack pipes and fittings.

As we head into winter, we're also plowing driveways and commercial lots around Kootenai County, so we'll be out there all season long.

Have a safe and happy Halloween weekend, and thanks again for a great year.
